Beginning therapy

Starting therapy, one step at a time.

You don’t have to prepare the perfect explanation. “I’m overwhelmed,” “I don’t feel like myself,” or “I’m not sure where to start” is enough to begin.

01

Reach out

Send a brief email or call to ask about availability. You can share what you’re looking for without going into personal details.

02

Talk about the fit

We’ll discuss your needs, answer initial questions, and review scheduling, fees, and session options.

03

Begin with your story

Early sessions focus on getting to know you and what you hope to work toward. You can let me know when something feels difficult to discuss.

04

Shape the work together

We’ll identify goals and develop a plan based on your needs, checking in about what is helping and what may need to change.

Common questions

A little clarity before you begin.

Do I need to have a diagnosis to reach out?

You can reach out even if you’re unsure how to describe what you’re experiencing. We can talk about your concerns and whether the practice may be a good fit.

Do you only work with trauma?

Trauma is a special focus of my work. I also support people with anxiety, depression, stress, grief, life changes, relationships, boundaries, and self-worth. We can discuss your needs before beginning.

Will I have to talk about everything right away?

No. We’ll begin by getting to know you and understanding what brings you to therapy. You can share concerns about discussing difficult experiences, and we’ll talk together about how to approach them.

What if I don’t know what to say?

You don’t need to arrive with a prepared story. I can help guide the conversation with questions, and there is room to pause and think.

Can we talk about my values, beliefs, or sense of purpose?

Yes. If those parts of your life are important to you, they are welcome in our conversations. We’ll follow your preferences and focus on what feels relevant to your care.

Do I need to share your beliefs to work with you?

No. You deserve respectful care that makes room for your own beliefs, experiences, and perspective.

How long will I need therapy?

That depends on your needs, goals, and circumstances. We’ll discuss an initial plan and check in on your progress along the way.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. I offer telehealth sessions for adults throughout Florida, as well as in-person sessions in Parrish. Contact me to discuss which option fits your needs.

What are your fees, and do you accept insurance?

Please contact Wendy for current fees, insurance information, and session details. We can review these practical questions before you begin.

Who do you work with?

I work with adults. Trauma is a specialty, and I also support a variety of emotional concerns and life challenges.

Your next step can be a small one.

You don’t have to figure it all out before reaching out. Let’s begin with a conversation.
